“It is difficult to understand the universe if you only study one planet”

Experience.

“Research your own experience. Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is essentially your own.” Bruce Lee’s words seem to describe my innate style of learning. I have been teaching and coaching people since I was 12 years old (I started with skateboarding)! Although I would rather spend my life learning and being taught, I believe teaching is in my blood. Having studied many movement disciplines under many teachers (in many countries), I have acquired a wide breadth of understanding and methodologies.

Knowledge.

“Knowledge rests not upon truth alone, but upon error also.” I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (the study of human movement), as well as numerous certifications. However, very few of the certifications mean much to me. Combining my ever-growing knowledge base of kinesiology, fitness and physical training as a whole, I have trained both others and myself competitively and recreationally, learning from many mistakes and achieving even greater successes. I stay up to date with scientific literature, however experience holds equal value, and creativity continually adds training options.

Adaptability.

“Knowledge is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” Combining knowledge and experience allows for an inherent ability to adapt, keeping training engaging and fruitful despite any physical limitations or mental attitudes. There are so many options, systems, variables and possibilities that there simply is no time (or need) to try to force training into specific molds. Guidelines allow for structure, but adaptability allows for progress, enjoyment and a natural, flowing approach. This is not to be confused with easy training or lack of discipline! It just means that we can flow with life while still moving optimally towards our objectives.
